I've seen your last "mistake" happen while watching a game at the prerelease. When the judge was called, the player who was being bribed explained the situation. The briber then explain his situation to the judge claiming he had no idea that was a rule. After hearing both sides of the story the judge rightfully brought forth the head judge who then heard what each player had to say. After discussing and comparing notes and the briber stating time after time that he didn't know about it still was handed a DQ and DCI court (as I like to call it). My friend, whos game I was watching, asked what that was all about and why he got DQed to which I answered, just don't bribe. That was the first and only time I've seen it happen. Good call on the "ponder mistake" when looking at cards and accidently putting them into your hand. That definitely has happened to me before.

General advice - even on trodden ground - is fine, since some will need it. But I'd rather see your talent used in writing about Magic. This column could have applied to any tournament.
