Tezzeret Composite Tezzeret Control, Stephen MenendianThis thread is for the discussion of all Tezzeret decks. What is Tezzeret and how is it played? Tezzeret is a U/x control deck that seeks to win by gaining infinite turns with Time Vault and Tezzeret the Seeker/Voltaic Key. The deck's namesake plays a key role in being able to tutor out the vault and then combo with it the following turn. With such a compact and inexpensive combo the deck is free to run a robust and solid control suite with force of will, mana drain and a multitude of other disruption. Web's article(s) last week I felt gave a lot of insight into the strengths of Mystic Remora, and it seems that things are shifting to being Remora as the 'drain deck of choice' at the moment. I've come across some interesting lists from Vintage tournaments in Europe that continue to run Tezzeret in these decks (often taking on some variation of the moniker "MysticTezz").
I've put together my own list that most closely resembles a list from top 8 of a tournament this past week in Barcelona. Notable features of this list is green as the splash color (as opposed to red), which allows for regrowth in the maindeck and some creature-based options in the sideboard. Land 3 Polluted Delta 3 Flooded Strand 2 Island 1 Snow-Covered Island 3 Underground Sea 2 Tropical Island 1 Tolarian Academy 1 Library of Alexandria Artifacts 1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Pearl 1 Sol Ring 1 Sensei's Divining Top 1 Voltaic Key 1 Time Vault Instants 4 Meditate 4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain 3 Commandeer 1 Misdirection 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Brainstorm 1 Echoing Truth 1 Gifts Ungiven 1 Fact or Fiction 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor Sorceries 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Merchant Scroll 1 Regrowth 1 Time Walk 1 Tinker 1 Yawgmoth's Will Enchantments 4 Mystic Remora Creatures 1 Inkwell Leviathan Planeswalkers 1 Tezzeret the Seeker Sideboard 4 Tarmogoyf 2 Trygon Predator 2 Yixlid Jailer 2 Tormod's Crypt 2 Duress 1 Pithing Needle 1 Rebuild 1 Relic of Progenitus I'm really not sure if the Green splash is superior to the red splash, as I haven't gotten the chance to test this build as much as I'd like yet. I'm also not sure how this deck responds to creature-based strategies. In theory the goyfs and trygon predators in the sb seem like they should keep the board under control, but I haven't yet tested this so it's all theory at this point. I know many builds opt for a combination of smothers & sowers. If anyone has tested both or has any more insight into the green vs. red splash that would be much appreciated. I will say that I do like regrowth in main as it's a great utility card and of course has synergy with Gifts Ungiven. But I'm also aware that this might just be me being "greedy" or trying to get too "cute" with cards in the deck. Again, any thoughts / insights are greatly appreciated.

Green splash and regrowth is pretty common in tez lists. If you'd like i'll make a Shay Blue thread for you. I do agree that its a great deck but I don't see a hybrid build to be necessary. If you have tested any tezzeret decks you find that tezzeret isn't really the greatest card you can have in most situations. Give me a couple days to write a thread.
